Yeah, I'm back!!!

Well do to popular demand (that or a lack of interested volunteers), I pleased to inform you that I have re-offered my services and will be returning as Tournament Chair for Squash PEI during the 2015-2016 season!

Before I get into my traditional rant profiling up the upcoming year, I want to take a moment to thank the Board of Directors, athletes, juniors, and parents last season at  the Awards Banquet last spring and presenting me with the Steve Rogers Award! I was shocked and honored all at once. I learned of winning the award via text as me and my father had just finished racing our horse at the Charlottetown Driving Park and I rushed over to the Banquet as I wanted to thank a number of people in person. John Power gave me alot of guidance from the start of the year, Shara Coady and Steve Bruce showed great patience as I was learning the Tournament Software program, and I had a number of volunteers helping each tournament to make things a smooth event.

Gord Lawlor said so many kind words that night presenting the award that it definitely helped with the decision to return this year. I am in this field already for my 8am-4pm job. When you do it for a living and do it as a volunteer, it is two different worlds. When you volunteer for such a great organization like Squash PEI and all the athletes and supporters out there, it makes you remember why you got into this in the first place. I take great pride in delivering these tournaments to our members and visitors from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and I am looking forward to doing it again. Thanks again to all.

Alright enough of the heartwarming stuff.......... DOWN TO BUSINESS!

> The tournament schedule for all PEI Tournaments is posted on this website. We will be posting NB and NS tourneys as well when they become available.

> Draw opening and closing dates are also posted. IMPORTANT NOTE: The draw closing dates are firm! I intend to do my best this season if available to complete the draw immediately after it closes if I am within range of my computer. If you haven't signed up and the draw for your division has already started, sorry! Most draws are open with more than 10 days notice before the closing date and advertised in plenty of time. We want our tournaments as big as possible but we need your cooperation and understanding that these draws take alot of time and effort so please sign up in the time allocated to you.

> Squash PEI reserves the right to combine divisions if need be.

> All participants must have an active membership before they participate in any sanctioned event. Squash PEI members are to register before their first match and out of province participants are asked to ensure they have renewed their membership with their provincial association before participating.

> Remember that although we are all competitive, FUN is the main priority. Respect your referees. They are volunteer refs just like you are if you win your match. Zero tolerance to abusing any officials verbally or physically.

> We are always looking for volunteers. If interested in helping out at any tournaments or socials, do not hesitate to contact me!

> We are always looking for new sponsors! If you are a business owner/operator and are interested in being a Squash PEI Sponsor, do not hesitate to contact me!

That's all for now. Keep your eye open for more updates!

See you at the courts!
